Group Gathering in Playa Del
Carmen Mexico July 2005
|
|
As 13 participants gathered in Playa Del Carmen for our annual
Summer Group Gathering we practiced our team building skills when
we had a surprise visit from Hurricane Emily Category 4. With guidance
from our local Mexican friends we prepared for 2 days prior... shopping
for canned goods, bottled water and candles, cooking anything that
would not need refrigeration, taping and boarding windows and recalling
all the camping trips we've taken in a past life.. WE SURVIVED EMILY!
|

Don & Linda Woods from Stonehedge Garden Center stock up on
fresh fruit and vegetables.
|

Business at the local grocery store was a bit frenzied as everyone
horded nonperishables. All the baggers work for tips only.
|

Jim Crowell, Atlantic Garden Center &
Don Woods, Stonehedge Garden Center
practice teamwork as they tape windows in preparation...
|

as we view Emily's slow arrival
from our rooftop
2 blocks from the beach.
|

A closer look at the water's edge.
|

We head to dinner to discuss our disaster plan, happy but not sure
what to expect
at midnight when Emily
is expected to come ashore.
|

Military cleanup
|

Communications towers destroyed by Emily
|

Home of our afternoon meetings is out of business for only a few
days.
|

As things get back to normal we enjoy the beachfront view.
