  • Raleigh was founded in 1792 and inherited its name from Sir Walter Raleigh.
  • Raleigh is known as the "City of Oaks" for its sheer number of majestic oak trees, which line the streets.

  • The Capitol building, built in 1840 was originally a tomb.

Getting around Raleigh is well organized and convenient with GoRaleigh bus routes. You will find buses run from the Crabtree Valley Mall to the downtown area every 15 minutes – the trip takes approximately 34 minutes and the cost is $1.25.
